โ€œHey, Nancy! I hold all creatures dear to my heart, but you are crying out to be an exception.โ€ Might be one of the hardest diss-lines in cinema history. Leave it to Bong Joon Ho to have me tearing up over a genetically-modified super pig. As a director, he really loves to smack the audience over the head with the heavy themes and messages he is portraying, and I love that about him. The final scene felt like a Miyazaki film, so cozy. Post credit scene was great too.

Okja

For many politically aimed films, there is a clear agenda. This pops up primarily in documentaries, since documentaries allow politics to be a major part of the storytelling. For feature-length films, political agendas are less rare, especially one that discusses the food industry and corporations. Okja does an amazing job at being blunt about it's statement, yet making it seem as if it is a funny and lighthearted topic. This film manages to balance out its politics with quirky performances and stunning direction, with a screenplay that manages to be subtle about the agenda, while it is staring at you blankly in the face. This film wouldn't work without its quirky characters, with Swinton and Gyllenhaal having the quirkiest of the film, as well as the most memorable. There are times of laughter and times of sadness throughout Okja, but it still manages to get across its agenda stunningly while still remaining to be a lighthearted (well, mostly lighthearted) and genuinely fun film to watch.
