Krampus
Chaoticly creepy and fun movie, so good to watch with your whole family in this christmas season. Merry Christmas for everyone! 🎄 and be careful with what you wish for this chrismast.
Krampus
when i first saw this movie a few years ago i thought it was terrible and i said so often. i went into thinking it was going to be a serious christmas movie and then all the silly shit started happening and i was like "fuck off" but i decided to give it another look now knowing what it was suppose to be and it think its alright. that being said i still dont like the evil gingerbread man and toy monster things, they look more cartoonish than creepy. also the cheap jumpscare at the very end is also bad it takes away from how creepy and disturbing that final moment is. can't decide between 7 1/5 or 8 out of 10

Krampus
Michael Dougherty created one of my favorite films of all time. Trick 'r Treat has found it's way into my top 10 of all time. I absolutely adore that film. With his directorial debut, he was able to create a world that was scary and funny, while still maintaining the seriousness of the holiday. Sadly, Krampus does not treat it in the same sense, but still holds a horror film that is amazing. I absolutely despised the comedy in this. Instead of balancing the horror and comedy, the comedy just seemed to oddly be put in there. Krampus could have been an amazing horror film all alone. But, the comedy was put in. The gingerbread men were my biggest complaint. There was no point to them. They were not scary at all. They weren't even funny. They were just useless characters to try to put in laughs. While there was timed comedy that was nice, the unnecessary amount of comedy turned me off. Now, I didn't hate Krampus at all. I loved it. Because it's a horror. If you don't look at the comedy and just focus on the horror, it's amazing. The practical effects honestly blew me away. The creatures were terrifying. The most terrifying creature was the creature in the jack-in-the-box, utterly terrifying me, which rarely happens. The rest of the effects were amazing as well, but the jack-in-the-box stands out to me. The CGI gingerbread men, though, were terrible. But, let's focus on the good. The characters felt human. You could see the human aspects of them, especially in the relationship of the main family. It felt familiar, since we all understand what it's like to have quirky family over at the holidays. This really gave them human qualities, since you were able to relate to what they were going through. The acting was really good as well. There weren't any performances that stand out as totally amazing, but everyone did a very good job. Krampus seems that it will gain cult status, which it does deserve. It's a great horror film, sadly with useless comedy in it. It would have been a much stronger film if it's focus was only horror, but I think they wanted to get to a broader audience, getting the PG-13 rating instead of the R. Nonetheless, Krampus is a great horror film that people who have seen Dougherty's previous film Trick 'r Treat will love.
