these men deserved everything bad that happened to them and worse. sucks that the characters are so unlikable because technically speaking, this movie was kinda great. but i also think the fact that leone doesn't try to make the characters, who are gangsters after all, likeable is a great detail to the movie. would've liked for the score to be more diversified though. the rape scenes were a bit too much, definitely made me lower my rating.

A lot of the reviews of this complain about the long run time, which for me wasn’t a problem at all. However, when talking about mainstream classic gangster films this rarely gets mention, which I do believe is because four hours puts too many people off giving this a chance. To me, it’s not a perfect film, as there are moments which I thought were quite ridiculous, but the ‘I slipped’ scene is genuinely one of the best I’ve ever seen. De Niros performance is also flawless, and subtly amazing. A conflicting film, but one I did really enjoy watching.

92/100 A remarkable journey and an even more remarkable masterpiece. However, I would gladly watch the unreleased 6 hour cut to get context on the entire second half of the film and get clear of the ambiguity presented by the rush after the intermission. Two movies would’ve been the way but studios have a way of ruining a lot of experiences at times. Oh and the score… incredible.
