Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
"if there's one thing life has taught me, it's that there's always room to grow" i had to take a few days for the adrenaline and excitement of watching a new movie to die down before forming an actual opinion and its been 3 days and i honestly can say that i actually love this movie. i do get the reason why this is not everyone's cup of tea but that has always been the case in these movies anyway, i honestly think that its quite good, very enjoyable, very familial like they have always been. what i love most abt the ant-man franchise is its family aspects and it has always been the heart of the movies which is why im so glad that it still prevalent in this one. however, that's where my problem with the movie arises, although the movie is very familial i just don't think that kathryn newton is a very effective cassie, she just wasn't bringing the same energy cassie had in the first two movies. of course she grew up and a lot has changed in 5 years but you just cannot feel the father-daughter relationship she and scott have which is quite disappointing because the movie is literally abt scott trying to save cassie over and over again and you just dont feel the same chemistry paul and abby had with kathryn and paul. i truly believe that emma fuhrmann would've done a better job. i also think that the movie would've survived without the modok scenes, he's unnecessary and does not add anything to the story. though most of the time when he's on screen i do laugh, most of it are just a bit corny and cringey. though the ant-man movies have always had a corny feel to it (which i love), i really dont find it cringey but this time i did, most especially with modok's final scenes, i literally sat there covering my face because i'm having second hand embarrassment. however, what i love abt this movie is janet and kang having a history, i truly just love the storyline they did with janet's time in the quantum realm. i love the backstory and its just beautifully acted by michelle pfeiffer and jonathan majors. THEY are the real mvp and it truly felt like its their movie, its so good!!! plus i'm not gonna lie the visuals are pretty great, i love seeing colors everywhere. although they kind of fell by the end because it felt like there we're no consequences at all (because they are probably saving it for kang dynasty). also adding the fact that i cried with the scotthope scene in the third act where hope flew back through the portal and saved scott and they had their foreheads together, saying their i love you's oh it was everything to me. literally one of the reason why i ended up loving this plus they actually had a great story to offer, they just need a better writing (its also because im a bit bias when it comes to the ant-man franchise). all in all i think its a pretty great movie, i had fun and that's more important to me. though i am not gonna defend it but i'm also not gonna hate it so,,,
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania
One of, if not the worst films I’ve seen in a cinema. This was genuinely awful. So much about this is just terrible, let’s start with the obvious. The CGI quality is so bad, it looks cheap and rushed. The acting from everyone except for Jonathan Majors is also pretty bad and unconvincing, although the script they have to work with doesn’t help anyone. What’s the point in Bill Murray being in this? Ant-Man and all his family are just carbon copies of each other and not the slightest bit interesting at all. The young daughter Cassie really needs a reality check because she thinks she’s the most important person on the planet, when pretending she’s selfless. Hope doesn’t do anything in the film and you could honestly forget she is even in it. And the Wasp’s parents have the dullest personalities I’ve ever seen in film. Oh, and the characters saying ‘we have a lot to learn from socialism’ which being in a Disney film with a budget of $100 million + is simply insulting to the viewer. Disney would go to war to stop the spread of anything apart from capitalism, so why even pretend that they give a f*ck about anything apart from their money? Absolutely tasteless. The only, and I mean only, redeeming factor about this is Jonathan Majors as Kang. I think he offers something interesting and actually has a personality, unlike anyone else in this product. In this I wish he’d killed them all and really set an example of his power, but like every other villain the hero’s defeat him. I know he comes back in the post credit, which means the entire film was an absolutely pointless watch, hurray!
