Closer

A group of four unlikable characters all have intercourse with each other, multiple times. The only character which is somewhat likeable is Alice (Jane) but she’s nothing great with little to no character development. The ending ties everything together cutely but that’s about all the positives. The acting is also great, but with a cast like this it was always going to be. The negatives could be talked about forever. For starters, the plot is awful. Paper-thin with these annoying characters keeping it together. You don’t feel anything for anyone. Not one emotional. Usually a film makes you happy, sad, excited and scared. This makes you feel absolutely nothing. Anna’s indecisiveness is like a joke, one minute it’s Dan the next it’s Larry and then Dan again, wait no Larry again! It reminds me of an early teens girl who can’t make her mind up, not behaviour of a women in her thirties. The men are even worse though. Larry is filled to the brim with toxic masculinity and Dan is a wet fart who only gets women because of the way he looks, as his personality is almost non existent. They’re both man-children who need therapy, ironically ones a doctor! Despite all this thought it’s not the worst film I’ve ever seen, and probably not the worst I’ll see again this year, but it’s weak writing and questionable directing leaves a lot to be desired. But that’s just my opinion if you like this film power to you.
