Funny, cool characters, everything felt really lived-in, but I was hoping for a more engaging plot. I can't hear John Witherspoon's voice without automatically thinking of Boondocks. Real funny stuff. The fight with Deebo could've been better, the brick was unnecessary, since you'd have to be lucky not to kill someone by hitting them in the head with it. In the 90s, it would probably be a 3.5-star movie for me. I'm just lacking the nostalgic aspect of it.

Cure

The hardest question: Who are you, truly, as a being? This movie also takes on another difficult and one of the oldest questions known to humanity: What is evil? I appreciate the theme explored by the film, but the execution didn't resonate with me the way I had hoped.

I hate the "I can do anything, my powers are whatever I want" trope. It's so lazy and pointless. If Jean can do anything, why destroy the bridge, sacrifice the mutants, and have any kind of "battle" at all just to get the kid? If she can simply destroy syringes and guns like that and then annihilate any being she chooses, then what are we even doing, Magneto, my darling? The Angel boy subplot was so silly, and the "spread wings" scene had me cackling. It's a mess.

X-Men: First Class

All this research and you end up with 4 people? Consisting of a fairy, a dude who kinda adapts (but not when shit gets tough, I guess), a guy who shoots aimlessly with neon rings, and an opera singer for dolphins and bats.
