honestly this movie is just really a flex of what charlize can do. so incredibly well acted from both taron and charlize though, all those noises taron kept making the whole movie is actually so scary 😭 men are so scary. bald men are so scary. also it just kind of funny how actually cried bcs she broke his bone like bro youve been killing and eating people this whole time without feeling any remorse and the moment you got a broken bone you turn into a whiny bitch? ijbol  i do think this is a pretty decent movie, there were some dialogues that i went ??? but for an action/thriller movie i do think its okay. plus i’d watch anything with charlize theron anyway.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come

just two sisters with their emotional support goat that they acquired after being free and ending a satanic killing cult.  this is soooo incredibly fun! i love that not even 10 minutes in and we’re already back in action & theres already blood everywhere. samara is fucking great as usual and that fucking scream never gets old, SO FUCKING GOOD! i really love samara and kathryn’s chemistry as well, theyre so good at playing sisters! the way you can see their sisterly dynamic the moment faith comes in, its so well done bcs even if we barely know any backstory you immediately see their indifference and love for each other. love the characters that came to play in this one, everyone have so many different personalities & love seeing how they interact with grace & faith. i really wish i saw this at the theater bcs a movie like this deserves to be seen on a big screen. also grace cannot fucking catch a break why does she always end up being impaled with something holy shit but at least she finally got the cigarette she’s been asking for the moment this movie started.

i love everything about this! this is something i would repeatedly watch over and over again like i had so much fun! i love all the twists and turns and how when i thought we’re all caught up with everything it turns out we still don’t then something new is revealed.  audrey hepburn is so charming, always is since i first saw roman holiday, literally totally get now why everyone’s head over heels for her shes literally people’s princess. audrey and cary have a great chemistry i love their constant back & forth, its so endearing & funny. and literally regina is just too good for the world, the whole time she’s just wide eyed & confused & trying to put things together, i love her she’s soooo cute!

The Children's Hour

“martha, i’m going away someplace to begin again. will you come with me?” hahahaha thats the last words karen uttered to martha. its the last words martha heard from karen. the last moment they gazed at each other. the last time karen looked at martha - alive. and the moment martha decided to kill herself. literally there’s nothing to laugh about this life. absolutely nothing to be happy about. we should all just die. hahahahaaha only feeling so much anger and sadness and despair and grief and depression and sorrow and anguish and agony and pain and fuck just kill me. also feeling so much hate for children oh my fucking god that child is a child of satan or satan reincarnate itself. fuck them kids bro and fuck that grandma too while we’re at it. and that love confession/monologue oh my fucking god so good, so fucking heartbreaking to the point that i actually stopped breathing but so incredibly good! this movie is going to stay with me for a while i actually so sick. martha i love you so much baby :(

theater is so beautiful. this film is so beautiful. i was on the verge of tears the entire time & when it ended the floodgates opened. the credits rolled and it was revealed that most of the cast are literally playing themselves made me sobbed so hard and reels of their older productions made it worse. came on this movie blind so i have no idea of the premise & have no idea that its based on a real story and im glad im came to it blind because i was not expecting all of it, i’m so moved oh my god. the way theater/acting requires for you to be vulnerable and to open yourself up & to feel feelings you wont feel is i guess why im so enamored by it, its so beautiful that you get to find an outlet where you can just open a part of you without being judged. i love theater so much bro, i might never partake in it but i will always look at it with so much wonder & joy like a lil kid experiencing the world for the first time. art is so important. art is so beautiful. art heals!!! everyone is so fucking incredibly in this i love every single part of it. oh and adrien brody you stole colman domingo’s oscar btw and you will pay for you crimes one day!

“atta girl!” I LOOOOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS! I LOVE WOMEN! its sooo fun and it made feel so good and i love the women so much. i love that part where they were all so high and fantasizing about how they would kill their boss and its just different genre of movies, its so creative! i really just love that once they all realize that their common enemy is frank and not each other they just leaned into that and maximize their joint slay and actually fucking did it, created feminism actually! everyone is incredible in here but man dolly parton is such a standout & i love that in the end doralee ended up being a country singer like ofc she is! cant wait to watch the musical for this one!

“i am big. it's the pictures that got small.” if you see me with a middle aged woman so obsessed with me, dont help me, im right where i wanted to be. i do love my women a bit insane after all. no but seriously what an insane film, what a journey. its the way this exact theme is still relevant in hollywood is insane to me bcs the moment a woman reach a certain age where they are deemed old suddenly everything they had done in the past is thrown out of the window and so does the actresses themselves its devastating to see. the moment they reach the age of 40 all they ever get are roles for mothers/grandmothers as if its the only thing a woman can be. the way shes not even that old, literally just 50 thats still so young. also that reveal by the last 30 minutes of the film is insane the way I gasped so hard oh my god. also i know joe is forced into all of this but i hate him so bad, he’s such an asshole like you’re a grown man whatever he deserves it. love love love everything abt this, i truly get why this is so loved. its shot so beautifully as well especially when it closes up into gloria swanson’s face *chef’s kiss*. i love that this is my first impression of gloria swanson, its literally so perfect she’s incredible & norma is such a compelling character. also i cant wait to finally watch the musical now that i’ve seen its source material.

babygirl really just wanted a day where she can be a normal person and she got it and experienced everything she ever wanted in a day its literally just soooo sweet and adorable its making me want to cry. and the fact that she’ll be able to have like a tangible memory of what had transpired that day makes me so emotional even if the real purpose of those photos are very opportunistic. also audrey is sooo cutie and pretty and i love her lil crooked teeth

this was gorier than i expected but at the same time i didnt even know what i was expecting especially when its directed by sam raimi. dylan and rachel are incredible especially my girl rachel, i love how she went from this cute kind woman that celebrates every little thing she accomplished in the island to this lil unhinged one. i do love my women a lil unhinged. also linda reminds me of abigail from triangle of sadness, GOOD FOR THEM! i really really had soooo much fun with this one i really wished i saw it on theaters bcs i could only imagine that theater experience. GIVE RACHEL MCADAMS HER OSCARS!!! - yes multiple bcs i need her to get her oscar from are you there god its me margaret as well!

im not going to lie to you that one scene between will and agnes where he had too much to drink and was essentially having a breakdown did not leave me for the entirety of the movie and i know its not the point of the story but it really just left a bad taste in me. its cause agnes was right he keeps leaving and he wasnt there when he was supposed to be. he’s just there for the good but almost always not there for the bad and its agnes who deals with it every time. its like he’s always running away. when he immediately left while agnes is still grieving and then him saying “the world doesn’t simply keep still” that pissed me off so bad and although i know he’s right the pain is still fresh how dare he say it to her. and its so frustrating to me that he can write all of that but he cant say exactly that to her wife? and trust me i know its easier to write it down than to speak it but at least let your wife read it? idk i hate men whatever. also jessie buckley is soooo incredible in this one that oscar was soooo deserved!

Sisa

Sisa

“hindi ba mas maranagal na mamatay na lumalaban kesa mamatay sa pagka-alipin” writing this review the day after i watched the film because i want to process it and digest it the way it supposed to. however i’m not going to lie, immediately after the movie ended, all i can think of is ‘men can’t do anything’ which is primarily bcs i’m a man hater like that but also bcs of the fact that they had the audacity to just give up para muling maging tuta ng panibagong banyaga, without even consulting the women OR at least informing sisa of what was abt to happen. the film is so frustrating to me not bcs its bad but bcs it showed how in war this what women have to go through over and over again - an endless cycle of getting your hopes up, laying down your life for freedom, and then that hope getting ripped away from them bcs the men decided to give up. i dont think the men even empathizes with the women, of course they wanted freedom too and they’re doing it for the country however i dont think they know the extent of what the women had suffered, sure they saw what happened but they do not know what these women have to swallow - the pride and dignity of it all - and not to mention the waiting and the not knowing just for them to be naive and think that a foreigner who’s main objective is to colonize the country, is going to help us. there’s a reason why the quote “women and children suffer more during a war” exist because not only are they always treated as collateral damage but also the sexual violence they experience, it honestly makes me so fucking sick. In historical or war movies like this - fictional or not - the most common pov are the men’s, we rarely (barely) get to see the women’s and that is why i will always give jun robles lana his flowers because most of his movies are centered around women and the other themes around it. and just like what he did with the barber’s tale sisa barely has any dialogue and instead the story moves through how she observes and interacts with her environment, its like we are put into sisa’s shoes, we uncover things at the exact same time she does and i really love that choice. the whole movie is in sisa’s pov and one of the only time (and the only one i remember) it switches is when we found out that shes a spy through ofelia’s pov. one of the things i really love about jun robles lana’s work is that he’s not afraid to make a statement, he bravely put’s the women at the core of his works and shows exactly what these women deals with during that time and he does not show them as someone weak - the same way these other movies with the same theme does - but instead he shows how brave, smart, strong willed, opinionated, and ‘madiskarte’ they are. yes they are timid because they are trying to survive and if surviving meant making themselves small then they will do exactly that. the movie showed the countless of times the women rejected the ‘american way of life’ and ways to make themselves safe especially with leonor cozying up with commander harrison. In the scene where rita tripped leonor and harrison was about to order for her to be put into prison leonor was able to convince harrison to not to which showed na she indirectly gained enough power to keep herself and the other women safe. this is furthermore proven in the part where leonor was recounting her rape where she said it herself na akala niya nirerespeto na siya ng mga tauhan ni harrison dahil malapit siya dito. with nena dying by the hands of an american soldier who also impregnated her, the desire to fight was much stronger from everyone in the reconcentrado and i myself was thinking that yes they can do this that they can end their suffering, that they will be free but ofc that was a mistake - a false hope - because yes men had to always ruin everything. its so fucking frustrating to see when the women started to realize what was happening especially with sisa because man she was sent to spy that reconcentrado thinking na she can free them, thinking na she can finally get the justice her family deserves but no, it did not happen because the men were too naive to think that the americans would help us and would stop the war, how come that even the women did not believe that bullshit but they did? its fucking sick. the quote at the top says it all because they are once again would rather die being slaves than to fight by choosing to give up. in hindsight i should’ve known that it will not end well pero that spark of hope and desire to see the women win is so strong. i should’ve known that it will not end the way i want to lalo na at si sisa bigay ng bigay ng mga information kay santiago tapos wala siyang nakukuha pabalik, the whole time she was in the dark and in turn was blindsided. then theres the part where its revealed na si santiago ang gumahasa kay leonor, sobrang nakakasuka isipin na nasaang panig ka man ng digmaan ang mga baabe pa rin ang kawawa at dehado at lalong nakakasukang isipin na nakayaanan kang babayuin ng sarili mong kababayan - he deserves that death and more. with everything coming down in the end every decision the women make especially sisa are valid, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. it makes so much sense to me now kung bakit nung sumuko ang mga rebolusyonaryo puro mga lalaki lang ang kasama - there’s no way na puro lalaki lang ang kasama sa rebulsyonaryo - dahil naniniwala akong hindi basta bastang sususko na lang ang mga kababaihan. it also makes so much sense that by the end of the movie the only people left in that cabin (?) are the men who failed the country in both sides and the women who laid down their life for the freedom that they never got to experience. the only thing na i guess i have a problems with the movie is yung part na namatay si nena tapos yung biglang revelation na spy si sisa, i just felt like theres a whole scene that was cut there and sobrang nakulungan lang ako kasi biglang nag jump? other than that incredible film! i love the color gradient and the sound design so much! i also really love all the establishing shots, sobrang ganda! and yes i agree that this is really a love letter for hilda koronel with how the camera focused on her face so much - cant blame them the camera LOVES her! so so so well acted din from everyone involved especially to miss hilda koronel of course, eugene domingo, and jennica garcia which are undoubtedly the standouts pero sobrang galing din makipagsabayan ni angellie sanoy at ni barabara miguel. and of course huge kudos to direk jun robles lana, you have another hit in your repertoire, napakagaling! im just super glad that i get to experience this at the cinemas bcs movies like this deserves to be seen on a big screen the way it was intended to be. im also so glad that this is my first theater watch for 2026. MAN I LOVE PH CINEMA!
