I believe that every time I watch a new Cronenberg movie, I'm going to be impressed. Four movies into his filmography, every one of his films has impressed me. Each one was also different from each other, with only a few threads tying them together, showing that they indeed are done by Cronenberg. It is no different for Dead Ringers. I could see some of the similarities in his other films I've seen, but it's more like The Brood, where it isn't necessarily a body horror film, but has only a few scenes with it. I know that Cronenberg is seen as one of the founders of the body horror genre, but it seems that his works are more spread out when it comes to body horrror. This film wouldn't have worked without Irons. His electrifying performance, or should I say performances, drive this film. You could distinctly tell differences in his performances at times, while other times he blended them together, creating a mix of personalities, making it nearly impossibly to distinguish one brother from the other. I couldn't imagine how difficult it must have been to be so minute in changes, and I applaud Irons for successfully doing just that. So far, I'm in awe of what Cronenberg has accomplished. All of his filmography I've seen have been fantastic. He creates captivating films that constantly have my attention. By all means, Cronenberg is a visionary director who creates stunning films.
