Diary Entry forGomBurZa

GomBurZa
GomBurZa is one of those events in Filipino history that will always be relevant because of how it was a precursor to the revolution of the Filipino people through the trigger of Jose Rizal. Everyone knows what happened and everyone understands it. Watching this film again and again just always reignites my fire to be the voice of reason in my generation. Our ancestors were constantly belittled and wrongfully accused, and this is very much evident up until nowㅡdecades later and it is still relevant. The cinematography, the acting, the storyline hits me so bad. It was as if I'm the one in the film and witnessing everything first hand. Padre Burgos and Gomez have lived their life to making sure the citizens have equal rights and they were prosecuted by it. The scenes with Padre Burgos, Gomez and Zamora prior to their execution was so intimate that it just caused me to breakdown all over again. 5 stars is an understatement, such a beautiful and relevant film no matter where, when and how you watch it. These types of period pieces should always be recognized especially when it is relevant to our history.
