Um documentário em formato de animação que conta a história de um imigrante gay que teve que sair do Afeganistão após as várias interferências coloniais e discute de forma intima assuntos como lar, pertencimento, família e propósito. Um longa animado que utiliza de seu gênero principal, a animação, para criar uma história real que cativa, mas não espetaculariza as lutas e desafios de seus protagonista e sua família. Utilizando de uma narração cheia de verdade em suas falas e cria um documentário que, apesar de seus pesares como deixar de fora todo o contexto político de sua época, esse ainda é um ótimo relato que passa sua história e cria empatia sobre todas uma situação complexa envolvendo as ações do imperialismo e da mídia hegemônica.

My final watch of the year So I didn’t know what my final watch of the year was going to be. I was thinking maybe Hero (2002), or Police Story.I realised that I hadn’t watched Flee this year so I put it on. This is one of those films I just won’t ever get tired of watching. I know other people may not love it as much as I do. I just don’t care. Whilst extremely personal, you feel as if you’re being kept at arm's length because of the anonymity of it all. Which is totally understandable. Amin’s story is a tough one. One that I have no doubt many refugees have also experienced. The analysis of what that does to a person later in life was ultimately the most interesting part, Amin finds himself unable to relate to people on a certain level, being cold, choosing work over love. But ultimately Amin is happy, he has his husband, his work, and opening up about what happened to him as a child will ultimately do more good than bad. I love the soundtrack, Daft Punk, Low Roar, and a-ha all in one movie. Perfection.
