“joy kung hindi ba tayo nagkatuluyan, mag best friends pa rin tayo?” “pwedeng oo, pwedeng hindi basta wala ng pagsisisi puro pasasalamat na lang” sometimes you really will have a deep love for a person but still end up not being right for each other romantically and this movie perfectly depicts that. marvin and jolina’s banter and chemistry are still so good and sobrang nakakakilig pa rin, you just cannot go wrong with this pair. ultimately ang kalaban talaga nila in this movie is nostalgia because too much nostalgia or i guess fan service can sacrifice the story they would want to tell but they balanced it out by showing that these two people that we know and love before is not the same people they are now. marvin was definitely in his element but jolina is such a standout, no one doubts that, but shes just such a satisfying on screen crier like i’m literally crying with her. maybe i am being a bit bias in how i talk and rate this movie, because i have always loved marvin and jolina and even if i was too young to fully grasp their impact during their peak, i still did grew up with them and this is quite an emotional movie for me. they had so much to say, especially when it comes to filipino family dynamics, separation, divorce/annulment, and how all these things combined affect a person. one that really stuck out to me is how joy cried in joy when after 10 years of being separated from ced, their annulment has finally been finalized and her friends were crying with her, it says a lot on the current state of the philippines. theres so many stand out scenes to me but that would just make this review even longer than i wanted to. but ultimately i love everything about this movie, from the corny lines, which is by the way, to me is the charm of filipino romcoms, to the cameos, the cinematography, and the soundtrack. jolina’s tuloy pa rin rendition hits so hard, shes SOOOO good in everything she do.
