Rough Night
Seeming to be the all female counterpart to The Hangover, Rough Night manages to be just as entertaining as the male counterpart, with some great comedians gathered together for a film that, for the most part, is funny. Johansson was surprisingly funny throughout, as I knew she was funny from Saturday Night Live, but she actually was very funny throughout. The rest of the cast was great along with her, even when the film started to get a little absurd. It's a fun movie that is a stereotypical summer comedy, but manages to stand out with its very funny cast.
Rough Night
it's so dumb but i kind of like it
Rough Night
Penis pasta and predictability; a crude get together of friends and nostalgia—from slurping shots to snuffing cocaine—roughly accelerating towards an unanticipated and unfortunate stunt sure to ruin the night. That's right: a dead body. A dead stripper. A party turned disaster. A night of 'oh we fucked up' and misadventure. Rough Night is Lucia Aniello's R-rated Weekend at Bernie's weave of trouble and humor; a middling effort of predictable laughs and misfortune, somewhat held together by the stable chemistry of its leading pack of women. Its first quarter almost plays as a parody of its dedicated genre, reeling in drunk shenanigans and drugs as it precedes an unlucky event. For the most part Rough Night is just as expected and perhaps a bit better, yet the sheer lack of gut-busting laughs and originality is the thing that stops it from being something more. Considering my love for Aniello's work on TV's Broad City, I hoped for just that. 2.7/5
