Diary Entry forBarber's Tales
the fact that cecilia took the little bit of happiness she can get by kissing marilou before killing herself is so devastating my god. and marilou is so real for killing her stupid husband cause how are you spewing all these lies about your wife and paying me for my silence when the only person who had made me happy killed herself because of you??? anyway this is such a great story about the darkest moments in the philippine history and it is through the lens of women from different walks of life. i honestly have nothing else to say but wow, from beginning to end they have captured me and made me feel every emotion. they showed us how women struggle before (till now) and how they have to be this certain depiction of their character so men can live their lives comfortably. the way it ended with all the women helping marilou escape through the prusisyon and cutting their hair short made me gasp and gave me goosebumps such a good scene! and the fact that marilou joined the revolution with her new name being luz not only because cecilia wanted to name her daughter that but also because it meant light is such a wow moment. it was so well acted from everyone too most especially eugene domingo wow wow. i cant believe this is just the first time i have seen this, this just became a favorite movie of mine and jun lana is up there when it comes to favorite directors. he literally has hit after hit in his name and not only that but he also always has well written female characters front and center in his films, i might have to give his 10’s for that.
