Oliver Hermanus adapta la conmovedora obra de Kurosawa con una sutileza y maestría en la cámara que definitivamente logra hacerle justicia. Pese a que toda esta mirada a la obra esta siendo transmitida a una escala más pequeña la ejecución que logra Oliver es la esperada sin llegar a convertirse en una me locería sensiblera. Bill Nighy demuestra que a sus 73 años esta en la mejor forma para encarar personajes realmente sentidos y dolientes ejecutándolos con una sutileza magistral.
