Mean Streets
Very obviously a personal film from Scorsese, not that the others aren’t, but this one feel like a montage collection of memories lived by Scorseses days as a youth - his experiences living in New York as a boy and who he had as his peers and elders. You see Scorseses foundings here for his future mob focused films, especially with its drama between characters playing a central role, and even its colour themes throughout, such as a striking red colours and shading within the bars. It feels like one of his least best films, and its ending oddly abrupt, but the chaos throughout with Johnny worked really well with his choices in cinematography as well it’s the frantic edit. One of the things i did quite like about this was how powerful a single gun felt - the characters react to the gun in a way a normal person would . One gun gave Johnny control and you felt it’s presence. Will definitely need a rewatch on this one, but now i’m looking forward to his next few films in this era.

Enter the Dragon
The action is obviously really cool and the set pieces and choreography was fantastic, but the story itself kinda lacking and a little all underdeveloped. But it was still a really fun film to watch

When Harry Met Sally...
another classic blind spot off the list. really enjoyed this a lot more than i thought i would. looks great, actors are really good and obviously directed really well by the late Rob Reiner.

The Departed
another blind spot down. one of marty’s coolest loved the editing and script was fantastic. split diopta shot!

Rat Race
a lot funnier than expected that hitler bit was comical the piss taking out of gambling is just as prevalent today if not more, good stuff

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
really fantastic. nicholson the highlight but the whole ensemble play together really well. love a film with a sad but poignant ending

Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice
this was great. really funny and premise is unique, really enjoyed it. looked great, i think i’ll love anything with Vince Vaughn in it

The Muppets
cute, can’t go wrong with muppets

Project Hail Mary
obviously it’s very Hope core but i don’t see why that’s a downside. and it’s from the book so don’t see why people have that criticism. but anyway i really liked it and i felt it was pretty faithful to the book. everything looked way better than i imagined in my head. i think they missed a few things from the book that might have benefited the film but overall it was really great. The dialogue can be corny but that’s the way the book is written too - admittedly it did take me a while to get used to, and i did find myself rolling my eyes a few times at the book. but i actually didn’t get that with the film. so, success! and i would die for rocky

One Battle After Another
soooo good after second watch, again in IMAX honestly the quickest sub 3hr film i’ve watched. it flies by. deserved its awards and more. had to bump it from 4.5

Hundreds of Beavers
what. absolute fever dream took a while for it to grab me but very glad i stuck around how do you even review this lol

Hit Man
Seize the identity you want for yourself

Up
goated pixar flick

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World
so fucking phenomenal i love this film. rewatch looked great in 4k too

Hoppers
pretty cute and surprisingly pretty funny. the different face styles of the animals when they could and couldn’t be understood was a cool aspect. slightly less annoying human style compared to previous pixar output

Eternity
actually really cute and sweet quite liked this a lot more than i anticipated could become a comfort? everybody loves somebody sometimes

No Other Land
The greatest injustice of our time. There will be a free Palestine. May the IDF & those that enable them rot in hell.

Cover Up
An extremely damning and depressing collection of journalistic integrity. Incredibly powerful in its full force method of displaying Hersh’s investigations into America’s worst crimes. From Vietnam to Iraq to Gaza, the American Empire’s relentless and never ending tale of brutality is laid bare by Hersh and Poitras. A hard watch.

The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie
Funny at times but also sometimes a bit hard to watch lol. I guess it wasn’t really fully my thing but was ok

I Swear
Really, really good. And really, really essential. As told by the “outrage” on Twitter. Very educational and emotional film that is extremely important to help normalise these conditions. Incredibly acted and the bafta awards it earned were well earned, especially lead actor for Robert Aramayo, who was in a stacked category to begin with. One of last years bests.
