Asako I & II
A very contemplative white-knuckle ride... a lazy river of inner turmoil. Pseudo shoujo space rendered in unsteady realism, of existing in that state of having the rug pulled out from under you in a relationship but before you fall back to earth. The film takes you up to and through several potential resolutions, unfortunate complexities being added. Ours are not clean or clear maneuvers, and this feels unsatisfactorily correct.
