I have seen a lot of Yorgos films, but he still finds new ways to shock me. The father is toxic. He controls and brainwashes his kids into adulthood like it is normal. He calls it protection from the outside world. It is just control. What is he trying to prove? Absolute power? Watching this felt uncomfortable. It is wild someone could think like that. The cast goes all in and makes it feel even more uncomfortably real. Horrifying. Absurd. I hate how much I enjoyed watching this disaster of a family operate.

NOSSA. OK. Eu poderia fazer uma review GROTESCAMENTE gigante sobre Dogtooth e ainda assim não conseguiria passar tudo que eu senti vendo esse filme. Dogtooth te prende do início ao fim dum jeito tão diferente. Passei grande parte do filme rindo de nervoso pelo absurdismo das coisas e boquiaberto com como tudo que já era extremo conseguia sempre ficar pior, pior e pior. SEM PARAR. É muito sobre abuso parental (óbvio), mas também é demais sobre a falta de identidade e independência que vai todos os dias se tornando um problema maior e maior até que em certo ponto fica insuportável de lidar e explode num desespero que ainda assim consegue ser obediente. Ela quer ir, mas vai seguindo as regras. Ela consegue, mas o desamparo é tanto que e aí? Você saiu, mas e agora? A rebeldia medrosa e a dependência não permitem que a gente espere - mesmo querendo muito - que algo bom aconteça. Que filme FODA.

watched it with a fully packed theater today and i heard some sighs and a bunch of "what the fuck"'s and i was just sitting there thinking in my head "how are you guys surprised that a movie made by yorgos lanthimos is fucked up and weird? i would be more surprised if he made a normal movie"
