I don't hate this movie, I just think it could have been handled a lot better I think the Silent Bob monologue is great but everything else just felt kinda...meh? I like it as an addition to the "View Askewniverse" but didn't enjoy it as much as Smith's previous films. I think if the focus was on the character of Alyssa and her struggles with her sexuality - it would have been far more interesting! In terms of film-making, it's a lot smaller scale than "Mallrats" but that doesn't really bother me The film is basically an extended version of the "37 dicks" argument scene from "Clerks". I'm not going to dig into the dated LGBTQ+ and sexual fluidity commentary too much (as others have already done that on here and have done it better than I could)

On a technical note, this film looks really stunning and textured for a film that's done on a relative shoestring budget "250k USD". And sometimes that simplicity is a win in approach to filmmaking is a win in my book. But the idea that Kevin Smith as a writer is trying with all of these characters to address his atonement to counter culture, just the spectacular failed trying of mingling with the idea of bisexuals/lesbian existence in life doesn't really get him the pass to be as crass in thinking as it is. I would love to see the more extended life out of the first 10 mins since that was the interesting part to me. The involvement with comicbook industry back in the 90s. But the film in itself is a weird time capsule that's not necessarily a colorful one. But a spiked one with inconsistent dialectic logic. It's far from great. But without that Silent Bob scene. This film would've been tropey as hell and mean spirited even if the intentions behind it is more innocent than it is.
