My Friend Dahmer

What I was hoping would be an interesting film about one of America's most notorious serial killers ended up being a lackluster film filled with information I could have looked up on Dahmer's Wikipedia page. Word of mouth solidified this film for me, since I had many people tell me that they had seen the film and absolutely loved it. While the film itself was enjoyable, it's not anything revolutionary when it comes to the Dahmer case. It goes into detail about Dahmer's later teenage years, depicting his family situation and school shenanigans before he became the notorious murderer. Ross Lynch did give a stellar performance as Dahmer, but this film was supposed to really show who Dahmer was, which unfortunately we weren't given. As stated before, the information available in this film could easily be found on Jeffrey Dahmer's Wikipedia page, which is a much shorter read than this film. It's a good film for those who aren't very knowledgeable about Dahmer's history, but serves simply as a visualization of the events for those who know a little more about the case. Maybe once I let a little time pass I will enjoy this film more, but until then, it was a less-than-average film that mirrors a quick Wikipedia search.

My Friend Dahmer
