it started with a bang but couldnt really hold the momentum till the end. first half was intriguing and interesting but later on it kinda lost that..

Night 26 of 31 Nights of Halloween Suicide Club is yet another film that’s been sitting for years on my watchlist, yet I never took the time to watch it. And here again, I’m kicking myself for waiting so long to watch a film, becuase Suicide Club is a wild film that is absolutely worthwhile. Sion Sono is such a compelling filmmaker and this film shows, yet again, his talent of his unique worldbuilding. I had no idea where this film was going to go, which made for such a fun watch - it’s not predicatable by any means, which makes every shocking moment even more memorable. After watching this, I really do need to get into Sono’s earlier works, because if they’re even remotely close to this film, then I know I’m going to be in for a very, very good time.

Perhaps it’s the cultural differences, or the 20 years since the release, but while the film was entertaining enough, just didn’t do much for me.
