Very enjoyable, from the first minute to the last. The 33 year age gap between Elena and her husband Pablo feels very uncomfortable, yet they have good chemistry and would make a good couple (if not for the age gap). Julián is a freak, like so strange it’s unbelievable. He gets so obsessed with Elena that he tries to make his nurse, Ana, into her! Very very strange. The film is clearly inspired by Hitchcock and Vertigo, which isn’t a bad thing as they’re both fantastic. This film is a fun watch, good dialogue a clever script and unique characters. The ending is pretty crazy, but in a good way, lots to love about this.

Peppermint Frappé

A bizarre burn of a film that feels like the seed of every imaginable Nabokov novel, with the very twists of a Hitchcock's 𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘰. Geraldine Chaplin is what I'm like every weekend with a vodka tonic. Very curious now to know what a peppermint frappe tastes like. If it's truly alcoholic toothpaste, count me in for plenty of kisses shared with strangers. 💋💚

Rewatching the film a second time really made the film more disturbing than before. Seeing each little event that eventually leads to the ending is so dreadful to watch. I also really liked the pitch black humor that was sprinkled throughout the film, which really stood out more this time around. One often neglected element people talk about is the editing, the very sudden time jumps with no warning does such a good job showing us the inside of Julián's slipping mind, and really makes the film flow in a peculiar way.
