All the Colours of the Dark
A carry-over from last year's Hooptober, this time we shoved it to the front of the pack. It really is quite a looker, our POV shifting every which way. Comically hyped up on its hysteria, stalking, etc. but I very nearly muted the TV once the sex cult shenanigans started in with just an incredibly grating psychedelic cacophony.
All the Colours of the Dark
I haven’t seen many giallo films, but I can tell this is definitely one of the more unique entries in that sub-genre. Some interesting cinematography (using I believe anamorphic short lenses) and editing style, a great 70’s score, and vibrant colors that make everything feel like a fever dream. It does get a bit confusing, blurring the lines between what’s real and what is a dream/hallucination, but I suppose that’s the point? Either way, I enjoyed my watch and I want to revisit this one someday. Intrusive thought: why did it look like homeboy had golden Bugles chips on his fingers
All the Colours of the Dark
Hooptober 12 (https://boxd.it/O4q2m) #22 of 33 • 1 film written by Ernesto Gastaldi (https://letterboxd.com/writer/ernesto-gastaldi/genre/horror/) I love how well the fish-eye lens conveys a sense of insanity and nightmarish anxiety, not just in this movie but in many others.

𝘏𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘦𝘭𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴? Panic after panic, dizzying. A fun and stylish Italian horror-thriller that doesn't let up in set design or jump scares. Draws you out the way the shimmer of a knife does. Running away never looked so good. Zoom-ins forever. Wide eyes.
