Promising Young Woman

A well worked story with a powerful message which highlights many problems with society today. I enjoyed pretty much everything about this, the death of Cassy is horrible but in some ways necessary to the film. The acting is great all round, especially Carey Mulligan who is truly amazing in this. Overall I think this is a must watch, and would recommend it to everyone over the age of 11.

Cassie é uma jovem que vai a bares fingir-se de bêbada para atrair a atenção de homens e confronta-los sobre a "ajuda" que eles prestam a mulheres em situação de vulnerabilidade. Emmeral Fennel apresenta uma visão sobre a questão de mulheres que são vítimas de estupro por apenas existir, basicamente ser mulher no dia a dia. Bela Vingança é um filme que subverte a ideia de vingança feminina contra homens, uma vez que o alvo da vingança, além do indivíduo em si, são as atitudes enraizadas em um sistema que transforma mulheres em objetos e homens em eternos "garotos inconsequentes". A direção e o designe de produção são muito hábeis em conferir a protagonista momentos de leveza e dureza que subvertem a dinâmica inicial. Inicialmente a personagem de Carey Muligan se apresenta como uma femme fatale, mas sua forma de se psta é o completo oposto disso, o que gera uma inocência que deixa a guarda de todos ao seu redor baixa. Juntando isso com um roteiro que cria situações de tensão e suspense sem nenhuma eminência de violência direta, em primeiro plano. Muito agrada o fato de que as cenas de mais grafia ficam no plano das idéias, melhor do que mostrar e a sugestão e a reação dos personagens e mesmo que o fim pareça entregar uma mensagem pessimista a priore, a virada no terceiro ato faz justiça as ações da protagonista e prova que a vingança que ela queria, além de ter sido alcançada, ela teve um descanso no fim, embora esse descanso tenha chegado de forma tão violenta e abrupta, o que gera um sentimento de derrota e um pequeno sorriso de vitória no fim, quando você percebe que ela conseguiu o que tanto queria.

slay : the movie j'ai vraiment adoré le choix des musiques par contre je trouve ça dommage que le film n'arrive pas vraiment a trouver un genre, ça commence sur un drama ensuite ça part en rom com (hyper cliché ce passage btw) et ça fini en thriller. mais en vrai j'ai passé un bon moment

ever since i've watched the trailer i was really excited for this movie, bec the premise looked very interesting and it had a great female lead. i was even more excited when reviews started dropping and ppl were having mixed feelings about it, especially with the ending. i wanted to know why ppl had such strong feelings for the ending of this movie, i thought "it couldn't be that bad." well... uhhh as i'm typing this, i'm still trying to figure out wether i like the ending or not, i know that realistically that's how it would happen but fuck i wasn't ready for it. i think i need time to process it more. i'm happy though that the movie didn't shy away from the topic, they could've explored it more, but i think for now this is enough, for me at least.  anyways, happy new year everybody! hopefully 2021 will be better for all of us! 💕🎉
