Kwaidan
There's an interview clip with Thelma Schoonmaker where she's bemoaning the practice of everyone cutting every three seconds, asking, pleading, "What happened to the shot?" Well shoot I just found them, they're here. Kobayashi took them all!!
Kwaidan
Os japoneses tomavam alguma coisa antigamente, porque não faz sentido essa fotografia ser tão absurda. Ela é à frente do tempo.
Kwaidan
Kwaidan tells tales of Japanese folklore, giving four very different stories, each with a lesson to be learned. It’s astonishing to see the color that was used, along with great sets and some creative direction make this film stand out. The third short was my only problem with the film, since it took the longest to get into, and also happened to be the longest segment, leaving only a small amount of time for the final segment. But, as a whole, Kwaidan is a stunning achievement in the telling of folklore. The first two segments definitely are the better ones, but all left me entertained and learned more of the Japanese culture. (And, the second short felt a bit familiar, and I coudln’t put my finger on it, until I realized it’s the last segment in Tales from the Darkside. I much prefer this version of the story though.)
Kwaidan
one of the most beautiful looking ghost movies i’ve seen. decidedly the visuals and production are the standout in this, with a lot of frames looking like a painting. there’s four stories of varying lengths in this film, and they all have somewhat consistent quality in terms of filmmaking. though i found myself liking the second story of the film the best, as i found it to have some of the best visuals and acting of the film.
