oh how i wished i had seen this in theatres. such a gentle and sad movie. the characterization of the house was my favourite part, and i audibly gasped and went "NO" when it was modernized for the 21st century grey minimalist style. elle fanning was just amazing, and honestly so was everyone else. nora borg you are the new addition to my list of characters i relate to a little too much.

Sentimental Value

It feels like returning to a house that raised you with love and hurt in equal measure, then slowly realizing that growing up isn’t about repairing the past or forgiving everything, but about choosing, with painful clarity, which wounds end with you.

Sentimental Value

“why didn’t our childhood ruin you” “there’s one major difference in the way we grew up. i had you.” all i can say is that as an eldest daughter this hit a little too close to home. this movie actually just confirmed that i really am that depressed eldest daughter bro so now i need to walk around a beach to process this. in all seriousness its crazy to think how much decisions made by our parents can turn into a ripple of events that affects the way their children lives. i was already tearing up in throughout the movie but what opened the floodgates is when agnes started cleaning up nora’s mess while she reads their fathers script. what an incredible film though, being stabbed multiple times would’ve hurt less.

The final and, in my opinion, best film I watched at the Cannes Film Festival 2025. Really enjoyed pretty much everything about this, the great acting and flow of the film was incredible. It’s emotional, funny and interesting throughout. A great film which I’m sure all will love when it gets its wide release. Cannes Film Festival was absolutely incredible this year, as it was last time I went in 2023, and I’m hoping 2026 I can also get invited for what I’m sure will be another amazing experience.
