“I know it hurts. The world is a horrible place.” Remember my words: The Book of Denial was right, children are the ones who suffer the most without even having lived that much. The Girl With the Needle is a story that addresses many aspects, from how complicated it is for a woman in the 1920s to live on her own, without a man by her side, to the tragedy of how someone can take advantage of another's vulnerability to satisfy their internal morality "for the greater good". I just have to say that I love how clean the black and white photography looks and how the director immerses us in such horrific and raw sensations.
