The Beach Bum

The Beach Bum honestly is one of the most chaotic, as well as cathartic, films that I have ever seen. Matthew McConaughey delivers one of the best performances that I have seen in a very long time. He embraces the free-natures spirit of Moondog to deliver a show-stopping extravaganza. Harmony Korine has certainly created some divisive films, this being one of the most divided of his filmography, but audiences should be willing to give this film a chance, and watch with an open mind, since it truly is a spectacular film. While it lacks the electricity that I felt while watching Spring Breakers, it works on a completely different level, taking things at it's own pace, not having a care in the world, following very closely to how Moondog himself lives. The Beach Bum is an impressive film that I will be talking about for a very long time, and I hope that I'll have the chance to catch it in theaters again, since it's truly an unforgettable experience getting to see this film on the big screen.

The Beach Bum

Well, this movie fucks. It’s so irreverent and hilarious, but also in many ways heartwarming. Like if you told me this would be about love, self-discovery, and family I wouldn’t believe you. Because it is that, but it’s also the same movie where Zac Efron plays a vaping christian punk rocker who wears jorts that are too long, Martin Lawrence makes a brilliant return in the most hilarious boat scene I’ve seen in a while, and Matthew McConaughey is a good time, no money having brilliant poet who eats out Isla Fisher within an inch of her life while she gets a pedicure so....what I’m saying is I need you to see this.
