Começando com o pecado que é o Alexander Skarsgård estar tão, tão lindo nesse filme... certamente eles sabiam o que estavam fazendo quando o escalaram para o papel. Mas, enfim... Acho que é um dos melhores filmes sobre ser uma adolescente que já vi. É bastante coisa para organizar e escrever sobre a minha opinião. A Minnie é uma personagem muito fácil de se identificar, principalmente quando você é uma adolescente também, claro. Eu agradeço por não ter visto esse filme quando eu tinha quinze anos. Acho que teria um impacto diferente, apesar de que, com certeza, ele não é para ser visto com essa idade. E, mesmo assim, eu me identifico com ela — tanto minha versão de quinze anos quanto a minha atual. E gostei de como o filme sempre deixa bem claro o quão imatura ela é e o quanto o Monroe é manipulador com ela, sempre nos mostrando os pensamentos da Minnie sobre amor, toques e seus sentimentos — e também o quão confusas muitas coisas são para ela. Um ótimo final ver que ela e a mãe dela foram melhores que aquele nojento,que a relação delas ficou acima do que aconteceu e que no fim tudo ficou bem entre elas. Adorei muito, muito a estética do filme e achei fantástico como usaram animação nele, deixando, de certa forma, o público ainda mais próximo da Minnie por meio dos seus desenhos e pensamentos. Fantástico.

I love how it ends with: "This is for all the girls when they have grown. Signing off, trusty diary. Love, Minnie Goetze" It feels so heartfelt and sincere, that note kind of feels like somebody hand crafted it for you because they care about you / are considerate and want to make sure you know things they didn't but needed? Marielle Heller's direction & writing are gold; she again brings out the best performances from her cast. The Diary of a Teenage Girl is funny and empowering; filled with quotable lines and great characters that have so much depth. There's this scene when Minnie has an acid trip, where she looks at her hand and sees feathers on them. Like that, the whole film is sprinkled with cool effects/animated details, and even some proper animated sequences. Given its subject matter exploring sexuality that's entirely from a female pov, it's already pretty unique, but things like that make it even more special. I loved this! It's awe-inspiring that this is Heller's debut, she is so underrated and powerful. I'm excited to see what all she does next.
