Kalabar makes his sweet and heavily FX'd up revenge in the widescreen-time-traveling-internet-age sequel to one of Disney Channel's better original movies. This time round it isn't half as charming as the first, nor even is it cozy enough for the Halloween season — I had a hint it wouldn't be as soon as the movie opened with a little recap of the first film, along with a cheesy voiceover from the lead character. There's also the lack of Debbie Reynolds that holds the film down — we all know she was the one perfect thing in the first, so, there's that to ponder over when missing out on her presence during Halloweentown II.
