I'm still a bit speechless about Birth/Rebirth, but I'll try to put my thoughts into context. First of all, I loved this inspiration in Frankenstein, where the focus is not on creating life directly, but on bringing it back. The connection between this inspiration and motherhood was also striking, as there is nothing more connected to life than childbirth. The impact of the price of life was also very interesting, since fantasy fans often know the balance has to be kept in equilibrium. Even so, I had a little trouble with the pace, which was slow at many moments, and the lack of depth on subjects such as motherhood, mourning, acceptance and other subjects that would have been perfectly suited to this movie. This doesn't take away from the weight of the story, which would naturally be strong, but it made me think it might be even greater. The performances are one of the highest points, being perfect choices. Overall, it was a great movie and yet another sci-fi focused on motherhood in 2023.
