Sinister 2 sadly is not it's predecessor. Instead, it's a jumble of jump scares and atmosphere-less big budget garbage. The mythology of the first Sinister was amazing. It was nice to see something so fresh. With this second installment, they try to replicate this mythology (and practically add nothing to the series) and ultimately provides nothing of substance. Instead of real scares, jump scares (and that's only a loud noise from the soundtrack) are the preferred scare in this. I hate jump scares, since they're not scary, just startling. I had high hopes for this movie, since the first movie is one of the best modern horror movies. I shouldn't have had such high hopes, since this was a major disappointment. Call me when there actually is a scary big budget horror movie (which I doubt will ever happen).

the way this movie actually scared the shit out of me at 16 y/o to the point where i was listening to high school musical during the movie... those deaths were brutal tho

Sinister 2 was a major step down from the first Deputy So and So is the main shining character in this one I still enjoyed some parts of this second installment but it had a lot less horror compared to the first
