after finally watching this remake i have to say i think it, like a lot a remakes, gets more hate for being imperfect than being actually terrible. obviously Jackie Earle Haley could not live up to Robert Englund as freddy Krueger but lets not pretend his freddy still wasnt scary and creep af. yes there was some bad cgi the writing is a bit flawed some questionable acting (we can also say that about the original tbh) plus making freddy a confirmed pedo is a big no for me, why do that? at worst i feel this movie should be considered mediocre or meh but it definitely doesnt deserve to be treated as pure garbage. i mean for years i've seen people treat this as one of the worst movies ever and its really not. things the movie should get credit for: microsleep - freddy appearing in those flashes of sleep the burning freddy scene all of the nightmares all of the kills the bloody hallway scene > melting stairs though the cgi was bad the final scene mom jumpscare was better than the original to name a few i would give this movie a 5.8 out of 10

A much darker and realistic remake, A Nightmare on Elm Street brings one of horror's most iconic faces back onto screen. And honestly, there was absolutely no need for a remake to such a great film. Unlike many remakes, this film actually had a lot going for it. It's cast was decent, the score was good, the cinematography was pretty well done, there were some really good aspects of it. If things were done well, I think this could have been a remake that really did capture the essence of the original while still maintaining the fact that it isn't the original, but a remake. Ultimately, I think what made this film fail was Jackie Earle Haley. He just did not fit into Krueger. His appearance didn't seem right, his voice didn't seem right, nothing about him screamed "this is Freddy Kreuger". That's a major problem, since he's the antagonist of the entire franchise. If somebody else had been cast (even Robert Englund possibly), this film would have been much better. Sadly, A Nightmare on Elm Street falls into the category of bad remakes. I think this had a lot of potential to be a great movie, but with a miscasting, this film ultimately was doomed. I really hope that they don't try to reboot the series again, since the original franchise was decent as is. There isn't much that they can change or add, since there are already so many movies. Let's hope we don't see Freddy Kreuger on the big screen for a long time.

A decade ago, a young Josh went to see "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" with his close friend and family. It was the night of a sleepover. Now, young Josh was a horror fan. Having previously lived on an Elm Rd, he soon came to love Nightmare on Elm Street and other horror films. This Josh, at the ripe age of 8, saw a poster in this theater for an upcoming "Nightmare on Elm Street" reboot and became excited quickly. A decade later, Josh finally got to see this movie with his friend Alec on HBO Max... This movie is ass. Straight ass. It's awkward, uncomfortable and just bleh. The acting is dry, the cgi is wonky and Freddy is a creepy pedophile in this one. Honestly the only thing I liked was the 2010 nostalgia this movie gave me. That's it. I'm bummed
