San Andreas
San Andreaschecks nearly every box needed to create an effective disaster film, having all but decent characters, making it one of the better disaster films of recent. The graphics are great, the pace is fine, but the characters aren’t terribly likable, leading you to not necessarily care for what happens to nearly everyone. I still enjoy myself while watching these films, but I won’t sacrifice characterization for some cheap thrills.

What is it with disaster movies? They're just so gripping and interesting to watch. As a society, does it show that we are focused on the negative aspects more than the positive? San Andreas indeed focuses on the negative, while trying to put the positive into it. The one thing that I didn't really enjoy was the acting, but the effects made up for it by a long shot. The CG was beautiful (all but the opening scene; I was cringing watching that), transforming the cities that everyone knows into piles of rubble. I'm actually really surprised at how much I enjoyed this. Disaster movies are interesting to watch, but they're not my favorite movies ever. But, San Andreas is really worth the watch.
San Andreas
Yet another disaster film while cleaning, this time it's somewhere a little closer to home. Still a great movie.
San Andreas
