Diary Entry forShiva Baby
- between the horrible, multiple reunions, the overbearing mother, the embarrassing father, the high expectations, the bad timing, the screaming baby, the lost phones, the whispering, the leaning into chaos, the asshole tendencies and all the things that encompass shiva baby, - i haven't been this stressed watching a film since midsommar (2019). - i loved how terrifying it was. - i loved how devastatingly real it was. - it will absolutely be a good while, before i watch it again.

I don't think I've ever been so tense while watching a film

โListen to your mother and don't marry anyone til you've slept with what, at least 10 people...โ Hearing people rave over this film really garnered my interest - some comparing it to Uncut Gems, a film I really enjoyed. Suffice to say, I did finally go out of my way to watch it and it was pretty good. I wouldnโt go out of my way to say itโs as good as a film like Uncut Gems, but it definitely has style. Itโs a pretty self-contained story set mostly within a house during a funeral service. It plays out like a horrible dream where everyone is judging you as you try and not make a fool of yourself - Itโs not so much stressful as it is painfully uncomfortable. Itโs pretty short, so Iโd say just give it a shot and see if you might enjoy it.

But when stuffed like fumes in a Jewish household, you get a mass murder of emotions that run high and dry. You stay at the edge of the seat, wondering when the bomb will go off. And when it does, "๐ ๐ค๐ข๐ฏ'๐ต" and "๐ ๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ฏ'๐ต ๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ธ" have never been so heartbreaking than ever before. ๐ฅฎ๐ฅฎ๐ฅฎ If you enjoyed this write-up, please consider purchasing my novella here (https://nathansnook.bigcartel.com/).
